Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: DUYA is seeking an experienced individuals to provide constructive and dynamic support to DUYA and its founder, Dynasty Taylor, CEO and Board Chairperson in the roles of Vice Chairperson, Secretary, or Fundraising Chairperson.

The Vice Chairperson will build upon and improve our five-year strategic plan, assist with setting goals and objectives, specifically to assist with a fundraising plan to improve sustainability efforts and establish accountability with our existing board members. The Vice Chair will work on special projects with the CEO and fulfill the board chair's duties, when the presiding officer is absent.

Requirements:

Demonstrated breadth and depth of management and leadership experience, preferably in a senior leadership role in a large or recognized organization

Financial and/or business acumen, relevant industry, or scientific experience

Proven ability to think independently and work collaboratively

Provides access to community, nonprofit, foundation and/or educational contacts.

Holds integrity and possesses high ethical standards

Committed to devote required time to the organization

The Vice Chair will be expected to attend 75% of our virtual bi-weekly 90-minute meetings

The Secretary is responsible for many aspects making our bi-weekly 90-minute virtual board meetings effective: preparation of the agenda in conjunction with CEO, distribution of previous board meeting minutes and background information associated with the current agenda, and preparation of official board meeting minutes and recording of any changes or corrections. Provides organizational improvements to help streamline DUYA's operations, including reminders of calendar dates, deliverables and mandates, call-in information, and attendance of board members.

Requirements:

Strong written, verbal and listening communication skills. The secretary will be expected to extract and communicate key information from lengthy conversations.

Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks. The secretary will be expected to take on many responsibilities, organize them effectively and follow through independently and in the time frame required.

Familiarity with a nonprofit's structure. Should be able to provide input and resources to the board when relevant topics or questions arise.

Familiarity with Robert Rules of Order is a plus.

The Fundraising Chairperson is responsible for creating a fundraising plan to ensure the organization is fully funded for the services it provides, assisting with identifying corporate sponsors, donor management, and leading fundraising events.

Requirements:

One year or more experience with fundraising, preferable with a not-for-profit organization

Have an existing network of professional/industry/personal contacts

The fundraising chair will be expected to attend 75% of virtual bi-weekly 90- min meetings and lead 30-minute monthly meetings with the fundraising committee.

Pro-bono Committee member positions:

Fundraising Committee Member: The fundraising committee oversees and directs fundraising activity. This committee isn't solely responsible for raising money, but it leads the board's fundraising effort. The committee works with staff to establish a fundraising plan.

Project/ Responsibilities:

Oversees and directs fundraising activity

Assist with the fundraising efforts such as assisting digital campaigns, events, donor membership programs, and corporate sponsorships.

Participate in the development and implementation of the committee work plan

Attend monthly virtual board meetings; 1-2 hours per month

Qualifications:

Industry expertise of 6 months - 1 year

Communication skills

Organizational skills

Time commitment: 4-8 hours per month, including bi-weekly board meetings.

Public Relations Committee Member: Developing PR strategies and campaigns. Preparing press releases, keynote speeches, and promotional material. Building positive relationships with stakeholders, media, and the public.

Project/ Responsibilities:

Develop PR campaigns and media relations strategies

Edit and update promotional material and publications (brochures, videos, social media posts etc.)

Prepare and distribute press releases

Seek opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships, and advertising

Track media coverage and follow industry trends

Attend monthly virtual board meetings; 1-2 hours per month

Qualifications:

Industry expertise of 6 months - 1 year

Communication skills

Organizational skills

Time commitment: 4-8 hours per month, including bi-weekly board meetings.

Partnerships Committee Member: Identifying new school partnerships, evaluating proposals for new strategic partnerships, and monitoring the progress of existing partnerships.

Project/ Responsibilities:

Help establish the criteria and framework for partner/sponsor relationships and develop new opportunities.

Use experience and professional connections to help grow and develop

AASP's existing and future partner relationships. Identify school districts that are in need of an academic, career, or mental health support

Attend monthly virtual board meetings; 1-2 hours per month

Qualifications:

Industry expertise of 6 months - 1 year

Communication skills

Organizational skills

Time commitment: 4-8 hours per month, including bi-weekly board meetings.

Physical Requirements: These opportunities are remote.

Age Requirement: These opportunities are for 55 and older volunteers only.

COVID Statement: Due to the pandemic, we are currently operating 100% online. Therefore all of the following tasks would be completed virtually until otherwise stated! We are looking volunteers that can help with one or more of the following tasks: -Tutor students individually and in small groups (ages 5-18) -Provide Homework assistance in small groups for students ages 5-18 -Collaborate with team mates and instructors to ensure that students are receiving grade level support according to the students skill set -Keep track of students progress through data analysis and written reports -Facilitate social, communication, and academic workshops; facilitate arts and crafts and specialized projects Additionally, we are always accepting monetary and school supply donations.
