Position Background and Description
The Front Porch Center for Innovation and Wellbeing (FPCIW) explores the innovative uses of technology to empower individuals to live well, especially in their later years. FPCIW works collaboratively with all stakeholders and in partnership with funding sources, researchers and technology partners. The intern will support and implement activities for CIW’s diverse portfolio of projects and programs, and will report to the FPCIW Volunteer Coordinator and assigned FPCIW direct supervisor.
Job Functions
The following job functions may be included in the role of CIW Project Intern. Duties will be assigned as deemed appropriate by the FPCIW Director and FPCIW Volunteer Coordinator.
- OUTREACH
- Promote resident participation in project-related activities that will include designing and posting flyers, speaking with residents, and ensuring activity attendance.
- Provide as-needed written and verbal translation services.
- Nurture the development of community leaders to support project activities.
- TRAINING/SUPPORT
- Support scheduled training and workshop activities at the targeted communities.
- Provide technical assistance with projects, including but not limited to community site visits and holding office hours.
- GENERAL ADMINISTRATION
- Distribute, collect, enter, and organize data from surveys following each activity.
- Aid in analysis and report of project outcomes.
- PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
- Assist in the development and synthesis of new project ideas, concepts, and components.
- Research information, evidence, and resources to aid in the design and deployment of solutions, projects, and programs.

Description
The Front Porch Center for Innovation and Wellbeing (FPCIW) explores the innovative uses of technology to empower individuals to live well, especially in their later years. FPCIW works collaboratively with all stakeholders and in partnership with funding sources, researchers and technology partners. The volunteer will provide basic tablet literacy training to older adults for the Lighthouse Program and will report to the Resident Service Coordinator at the respective community.
The Lighthouse program has deployed tablets to qualifying residents of affordable housing communities in Pasadena, Koreatown, Inglewood, and South Los Angeles, and in support of this project, we are seeking volunteers who will be able to instruct and train residents on basic tablet functions and applications.
