About Drug Policy Australia

Hundreds of vulnerable Australians are persecuted by oppressive, stigmatising and fundamentally unfair drug laws. Here at Drug Policy Australia, we’re fighting for kinder laws based in actual research. Our charity is small and we need every bit of help we can get - if you’re looking to make a real difference, this is the opportunity for you!

About you (hopefully!)

  • Your main responsibility will be helping our ad campaigns reach their full potential through Google and Microsoft advertising. This is not grunt work: part of these campaigns includes ensuring our drug testing kits, which detect dangerous contaminants, reach more people. Without exaggeration, you could help save lives.
  • We’d love some experience, but if you’re new and enthusiastic, we can still set you up with Google and/or Microsoft official training leading to accreditation!
  • If you are interested, other website responsibilities include search engine optimisation and marketing. Your wide skillset will be used to its fullest potential!
  • You will work directly with the Managing Director and a small, dedicated, and passionate team over Zoom.
  • It makes no difference whether or not you have lived experience: if you’re ready to learn, we wholeheartedly welcome you!
  • Work with new AI tools, including ChatGPT, Auto-GPT and LLM framework Longchain.

About Drug Policy Australia Limited

Location:

118 Queen St, Suite 5, Level 4, Melbourne, victoria 3000, AU

Mission Statement

Drug Policy Australia raises awareness of the harms to individuals and the Public Health associated with the use of psychoactive substances and undertakes education, research and advocacy of proven harm-reduction strategies to minimise that harm. We believe that trying to enforce abstinence by prohibition is unrealistic and counter-productive in modern Australia which has one of the highest per capita consumption rates of illicit drugs in the western world. Because of this high prevalence of drug use, the optimum health outcome for those Australians using drugs and their families is best achieved by harm reduction strategies. We believe the health of ordinary Australian families is being undermined by disproportionate government spending on enforcement rather (75% of expenditure) at the expense of more cost-effective harm reduction strategies. We are concerned with the practical and ethical questions raised by drug use in society.

Description

Drug Policy Australia Limitedis a public health NGO primarily concerned with promoting new approaches to minimise the health risks and other harms caused by the use of drugs which affects the wellbeing of all Australians. We are advocating and promoting a shift in society's prevailing attitude towards drug users that vilifies millions of Australians and costs billions of dollars every year in enforcement, healthcare and forgone tax revenue. Ours is a human rights movement that is a part of the worldwide movement to achieve justice and equality for all regardless of lifestyle choices.
