The Plant Exchange thrives on volunteer help - those with particular skills, and those without any previous knowledge or experience with plants or gardening. In our warehouse and operations, The Plant Exchange has particular needs such as social media posting, logistics, plant knowledge, construction and maker skills, handcrafting (such as sign-painting and sprucing up donated objects), merchandising and cashiering.
For protecting yourself and the community against COVID, you may choose to mask at any time. Anyone with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask.

The Plant Exchange mission is to promote sustainable gardening practices, reduce landfill waste, educate people about environmental justice, and bring our community together over a common love of gardening. We seek to unite people of all ages and backgrounds and promote the personal health and community benefits that gardening provides.
Description
The Plant Exchange is a nonprofit environmental organization that has served Oakland and the Bay Area for over 15 years. As of 2023, we closed our warehouse and are operating pop-up sales and plant exchanges across the Bay Area where we have occasional volunteer opportunities
