The COVID-19 pandemic has affected online student learning due to a lack of structure, technical issues, and other academic limitations. Unfortunately, students from low socioeconomic status and ethnic minorities are most affected, widening the existing achievement gap. To address this, we created the Power of Words and Numbers (POWAN) Initiative, an evidence-based organization dedicated to educating, empowering and serving K-12 students in underserved communities.

POWAN Initiative is looking for dedicated volunteer tutors to be positive role models for our K-12 students. We aim to bridge the equity, achievement, and opportunity gaps to ensure every high school student has equal opportunity access and graduates with the tools necessary to achieve their academic dreams.

We can provide letters of recommendation and volunteer hour certifications. This position is a great way for undergraduates and graduates to gain experience with educationally empowering K-12 students. If you are interested in joining the POWAN family, please fill out this application: https://forms.gle/ o7uzuTVBsoSYUykY7
