Help 59 yr old Disabled Veteran in Springfield, OH w/ Lawn Services as Volunteer. From client, "I am a disabled veteran of the US Air Force, active duty 1982-1992. I sustained a back injury in 1988. I have been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease and at the last count, I had 4 disc\'s that are completely gone in my lower back and have been basically replaced by arthritis. I haven\'t had an MRI in over 10 years but I know I have disc problems in my upper back and neck as I can\'t stand more than a few minutes without getting a headache. I can\'t stand or walk more than a few minutes at a time without extreme pain. I am on a fixed income and I hate to ask for it, but I really need some help, if possible, as long as it\'s not a bother to anyone. Our town charges $50 if your yard isn\'t mowed, I have been lucky to avoid this. My oldest son lives with me, to care for me, but he has back issues also and is usually unable to do the work required. I had a lawn mower but someone took the gas cap and it went through the winter without it. I can\'t get around enough to try to fix it, if I had the mower, I could maybe do my yard a little at a time. For now, I bought a $20 weed wacker and we have used that to try to keep the very front of the yard cut down. The town can\'t see the rest of the yard. As for snow removal, it is my greatest concern as it can range from $20-$50 per storm and I can\'t afford it. I live in a small town in Maine and there are no jobs, so all the kids that could help, leave as soon as they are able to. I have a claim being processed by the VA, it was submitted almost 4 years ago. It will double my income. If I get approved, I will surely write back and cancel any service from your organization as I will be able to pay for lawn care and snow removal. I would never take anything from someone else that was in greater need than I. I know you have no one in this area who volunteers, but maybe someday, you will. If my disability wasn\'t so bad, I would volunteer, I think it is an excellent way to help people. Thank you."

Description
Launched in 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, I Want To Mow Your Lawn (r) , a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (Tax ID: 853447661), offers completely free lawn care to seniors over 65, military veterans, the disabled, and those facing financial challenges - all while prioritizing eco-friendly practices. Founder Brian Schwartz, who was laid off from his digital advertising job, saw it as a chance to make a difference when the world felt chaotic.
As time progressed, the demand surged, and a growing number of volunteers joined Brian's mission. Currently, over 340 volunteers across 40 states have revitalized more than 500 yards. For those receiving assistance from I Want To Mow Your Lawn(tm), the grass might not always be greener, but it's neatly trimmed, edged, and raked.
Global media coverage has led to an impressive six-fold increase in volunteer sign-ups for the upcoming 2023 spring-summer season.
