ORGANIZATION: Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art

  • 2 people are interested

Class meetings will take place in-person at the museum every Monday Oct. 3 - Jan. 30 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., with the exception of the 2 nd Monday of each month when it meets 12:30 to 3 p.m. On those Mondays we have continuing education sessions for all guides from 10 a.m. to noon. You are strongly encouraged to attend those sessions. Due to the holidays, we will not meet on Monday, Dec. 26 or Monday, Jan. 2.

This training is for people who will be crafting and providing tours to museum visitors of all ages, including school audiences. Our tours are visitor-centered experiences that reinforce key museum messages and themes through artwork in our various galleries. In class and with one another, we will be practicing audience engagement techniques. You will get and share a lot of content information, but this is NOT an art history course. If you are looking for a college-level art history course, there are many options out there both online and in-person at several wonderful local universities.

The program requires a 2-year commitment beyond the initial training. Guides must give a minimum of 36 days per calendar year (approximately 2 hours/day).

If you would like the opportunity to join this class, please email me so we can set up an initial meeting/interview.
