ORGANIZATION: ywca of the city of new york

The YWCA of the City of New York (YWCA NYC) works to eliminate racism, empower women and stand up for social justice by providing leadership and advocacy training for young women, and after school programming for elementary and middle school students in culturally diverse communities.

We work with a number of corporate funders who would like their executives to mentor our students. We need a coordinator to manage schedules and orient the volunteers. Great job for a retired educator or anyone who likes working with people!

Mission Statement

Established in 1858, the YWCA of the City of New York is one of the nation's oldest non-profit organizations. Our mission is to empower the City's women, girls and their families and to eliminate racism. Our programs provide childcare in Early Learning Centers in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island; Family Resource Centers that offer programs on parenting, job training, financial literacy, and health and nutrition in the communities where our Early Learning Centers are located; employment training for women; after-school programs for children, girls and young adults, and for youth with disabilities. We serve as a leading advocate for women, girls and diversity.
