Volunteer Ombudsmen are vital to our mission of "Advocating for those who can't, supporting those who can and ensuring all long-term care consumers live with dignity and respect".
What is an Ombudsman, you ask?
A Long-Term Care Ombudsman:
-Resolves complaints made by or on behalf of residents in long-term care facilities
-Educates consumers and long-term care providers about resident's rights and good care practices
-Promotes community involvements through volunteer opportunities
-Provides information to the public on nursing homes and other long-term care facilities and services, resident's rights and legislative and policy issues.
-Advocates for resident's rights and quality care in nursing facilities, personal care. residential care, and other long-term care facilities
-Promotes the development of citizen organizations, resident councils and family councils
With thorough education and shadowing opportunities, volunteers assist us in bringing a face and a heart into the 200 facilities in Lancaster County.
