GW Math Matters Tutors provide quality on-site, one-on-one or group tutoring for middle school students in Washington, DC. The VISTA will increase the capacity of the Math Matters tutoring program by conducting research, program evaluation, and outreach to stakeholders. They will collaborate with Nashman Center staff, DCPS school partners, and community-based organizations to implement math tutoring and programming in Title I middle schools in Washington, DC. Responsibilities will include: Contributing to tutor recruitment, training development, evaluation, identifying areas of improvement, and grant writing.

Benefits include a monthly living allowance of $1,583 (before taxes), an education award ($6,495) or stipend ($1,800) at the completion of your term, health coverage, child care assistance, relocation reimbursement, deferral or forbearance of school loan repayments, personal and medical leave, potential eligibility for the Earned Income Tax Credit, travel payment to attend the Pre-Service Orientation, and reimbursement for some other work-related travel expenses. The VISTA also receives regular training and support, the chance to collaborate with other VISTAs in the program, and the unique benefits and opportunities of living and working in Washington, D.C.
