Position Summary:
San Lorenzo Family Help Center is currently seeking Volunteers to assist with our on-site Food Distribution Program. The Food Distribution Volunteer works closely with staff and other volunteers to help sort groceries and produce, package produce and distribute bagged food to our community.
Upon arrival, check in with the Food Pantry for instructions. Per current CDC requirements, Volunteers are required to wear masks, provide Covid-19 vaccination proof and wear gloves, remain socially distant and follow safety and hygiene protocols.
Primary Duties:
- Help unload donated food from the delivery vehicle
- Sort and distribute food to the community
- Disinfect work station before and after each shift
- Light janitorial tasks at the end of each shift as needed
Abilities and Attributes:
- Commitment to following food safety guidelines.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Able to stand, lift and bend.
- Bilingual welcome.
- Students welcome.
Time Requirement and Schedule:
Food Distribution Event:
Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri & Sat: 9AM - 1PM
Time requirement: Volunteers must commit to a full shift and be able to volunteer each week or be on-call.

Description
San Lorenzo Family Help Center offers a free food pantry for Alameda County residents who are income eligible, experiencing homelessness, or have medical needs. We are your local Food Pantry, here to serve the San Lorenzo community which includes Cherryland, Ashland, Hayward Acres and San Lorenzo . All Alameda county residents with food insecurity are qualified to receive food pantry items twice a month.
