Be apart of a local Pittsburgh non-profit organization with The Open Door, Inc.

We are looking for volunteers who can lend their time and energy for a worthwhile cause. We are extremely flexible and you will be coordinating directly with the team at The Open Door, Inc. There is much to be done here such as administrative duties to help scan and organize files, working around the residential building to make sure it is kept up with, and helping prepare and attend our community events.

Volunteers will be asked to help on a needs basis and we are flexible to make it work for their schedule.

We hope you consider The Open Door, Inc. as a worthy organization to donate your time. Thank you!!

Mission Statement

The Open Door, Inc. provides affordable, safe, and supportive homes for individuals living with HIV who are NOT eligible for more traditional housing programs. We also provide representative payee services to individuals who experience housing instability but may not need the additional supports of our housing program. We welcome ALL people including those who use substances, have mental health diagnoses, and have criminal histories.

We are a non-profit organization based in Pittsburgh, helping provide housing and human services to the forgotten populations. Our organization has two offices, one of which is a residential building that provides safe and supportive housing for 14 residents. We offer a vast array of services for our participants that include representative payee, non-medical case management, housing/medical referrals, and service coordination among many others. Our organization operates under a harm reduction model, this means our residents participate in certain behavioral activities with no judgement or bias. We welcome each of our participants and meet them where they are at in their lives. We have been operating since 2006 and many of our residents have become successful after graduating from The Open Door, Inc.
