Do you want to support families’ learning but don’t have much time to spare? Then, join Reading Connections by delivering literacy kits to families in our online Family Literacy Program! Reading Connections is the largest adult literacy nonprofit organization in North Carolina. Our Family Literacy Program provides literacy support for families during the school year at Title I elementary schools and community centers in Guilford County. This program offers parents an opportunity to support their children’s literacy development while improving their own literacy skills at the same time. Centered on the belief that parents are their children’s first teachers, the program incorporates focused literacy instruction for parents and children, fostering both a habit and a love of reading among the families we serve.
As a Literacy Kits Delivery volunteer, you will receive a delivery route in Greensboro or High Point. Once every three weeks, you will deliver children’s books and program materials to the doorsteps of 10-15 families in our program.
