Are you interested in volunteering, nature, education, learning new things, and having fun in the parks? Consider becoming a docent with the East Bay Regional Park District at Del Valle! Our Docent Volunteer Educators are essential in leading station rotations during our school program field trips at the park. Field trip topics include animal adaptations, open space conservation, water quality, ecosystem services, and more. School programs are M-F from about 9am to 1pm. A Naturalist leads the field trip with docent support.

There are other opportunities such as Visitor Center Host and Naturalist weekend program support. We also offer monthly Docent Enrichment trainings and meetings.

Mission Statement

The East Bay Regional Park District preserves a rich heritage of natural and cultural resources and provides open space, parks, trails, safe and healthful recreation and environmental education. An environmental ethic guides the District in all of its activities. Del Valle Regional Park is a unique park for East Bay Regional Park District which allows visitors a balance of high use recreation and traditional park experiences (such as camping, recreation, and interpretive programming), while maintaining access to larger wild spaces within the confines of the Bay Area.

Description

Lake Del Valle was created for flood control, drinking water storage and recreation. It is managed in agreement between the State Department of Water Resources and the East Bay Regional Park District to provide access to water recreation, camping, educational programming, and support wildlife /and recreation corridors.

The East Bay Regional Park District is a system of beautiful parklands in Alameda and Contra Costa counties to the east of San Francisco. The system comprises 73 parks spanning across 125,000 acres; 1,250 miles of trails; 55 miles of shoreline. We manage and preserve natural and cultural resources for all to enjoy and protect. The regional parks are ideal for healthful recreation and environmental education.
