Child Care Volunteers Needed!

ORGANIZATION: Blue Ridge Literacy Council (BRLC)

  • 2 people are interested

At the Blue Ridge Literacy Council, we work with families who hope to improve their literacy skills and achieve workforce or educational goals. Our Family Literacy Program works with non-native English speakers who have children entering kindergarten. Through the Abiendo Puertas program, parents learn the language skills they need to be able to communicate with their child's teachers. They also learn what to expect as their kiddo enters school, how to participate in parent/teacher conferences, and more.

While parents attend Family Literacy Classes, their children are supervised by loving volunteers. We have expanded our program for the upcoming school year, and we are in need of volunteers willing to watch young children, aged 0-5, from 3:30-5:30pm at Clear Creek Elementary School in Hendersonville on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This program will run from September 13 - November 17th. A background check is required and training is provided. The ideal volunteer would have a love for children and experience with planning fun activities.
