We are looking for a volunteer Cat Lounge Attendant (CLA) -- Fridays, 4pm-6pm or Saturdays 2pm-4pm.

Note:
We have CLA's on all days we are open to the public, Thur-Sun, so please if apply, even if these days are not good for you. You do not need to be available for both shifts. In addition, we also need subs to fill in for a CLA who is absent. We will do our best to be flexible to fit your schedule.

Duties are: Welcome visitors - We have single people, couples, families and seniors. Answer their questions and make sure visitor and cat interactions are positive and safe. Explain visitor rules as needed. Promote adoption of the cats, know their names, and be familiar with the cats' backgrounds. Check on food and water bowls. Scoop their boxes and keep the Cat Lounge tidy. If there is a period with no visitors and tasks are taken care of, you have time to cuddle and play with cats! How great is that?! Many of our volunteers have adopted a cat/kitten but it is NOT a requirement! lol

This job is best suited for someone who is outgoing and friendly.

Schedule - This position may start out every other week although it might work out to weekly.

No experience necessary! We provide job descriptions and side-by-side training until you feel comfortable. Must love cats though! Volunteers must be 18, punctual, and have reliable transportation.

To speed up the process, we invite you to go to our website (link below) for more info and/or complete a Volunteer Application. Please be sure to indicate on the application that you are applying for Cat Lounge Attendant. Or you can respond to this listing, and we will send you an application.

About Lucky Cat Cafe & Lounge

Location:

2230 Dundee Rd., Louisville, KY 40205, US

Mission Statement

PET ADOPTION AND EDUCATION. Our mission is to help homeless and abandoned shelter cats spend less time in pet store cages while we find FURever homes for them. All cats/kittens in our homey shelter are adoptable. Visitors can pet and play with the cats or adopt one, which gives us opportunities to educate them about cat behavior and pet ownership.

Description

We are Kentucky's only nonprofit cat cafe. It is part cat adoption program and part coffee-shop. We are not a business like most cat cafes are. More than 650 cats and kittens have found FUR-ever homes through our program since 2018. All animals are tested for disease, updated on vaccines, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. We work with 5 local rescue groups that provide cats. Visitors can pet/play cats or adopt one. The facility has 3 large colorful rooms inside a 100-year old Highlands bungalow. Cats are free-roaming. It is their home 24/7 until they find the right person or family to adopt them.

We have a team of about 50 volunteers, from all ages and all walks of life. Many have been with us since we opened five years ago. Our volunteers come on different days and do different kinds of jobs to help fulfill our mission. We all have one thing in common: The love of cats to have a good life.

We have a 12-foot mural painted by Liz Richter on the side of our blue house that says: "Time spent with cats is never wasted." We are not sure who originally said this quote, but we believe it to be true. Please email if you have questions before applying: luckycatcafe502@gmail.com
