ORGANIZATION: Old Colony Elder Services

  • 14 people are interested

The Plymouth Supportive Housing Program gets food deliveries from the Salvation Army to all 5 Plymouth housing sites on the first Thursday of every month. A lot of the residents depend on this monthly food delivery. They are in need of volunteers to assist with unloading the boxes of food from the Salvation Army truck and deliver them into the community rooms. Your volunteer service of just one hour a month will make a huge difference to help alleviate food insecurity for seniors living in the Plymouth housing sites.

Mission Statement

Through the talent of an experienced and diverse workforce, OCES supports the independence and dignity of older adults and individuals with disabilities by providing essential information and services that promote healthy, safe living which positively impacts our community. OCES has a variety of volunteer opportunities in programs such as the Nutrition Program, Money Management Program, and Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Plymouth County.

Description

Founded in 1974, OCES proudly serves greater Plymouth County and surrounding communities. OCES is a private non-profit organization. OCES aspires to be a culturally diverse and inclusive agency that removes barriers creating equity for all by empowering individuals and communities to thrive, age in place, and reach their highest potential.

OCES' Nutrition Program is there to reduce hunger and food insecurity, promote socialization, and to promote the health and well-being of older adults and individuals with disabilities.

OCES' Money Management Program (MMP) helps older adults and individuals with disabilities in helping to manage their finances and pay their bills. The MMP program provides confidential assistance in managing a budget and keeping finances organized.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Plymouth County (RSVP), a program of OCES, is the Plymouth County chapter of AmeriCorps Seniors. RSVP works with our community Service Partners by utilizing the financial, infrastructure and human resources of RSVP. We recruit and interview volunteers 55 years of age or older, then align their abilities and interests to meet the needs of the community as provided by our Service Partners.
