Are you passionate about housing, homelessness, and tenant rights? Support our Tenant Services counselors!

Tenant Services provides education to renters in the Seattle area and the surrounding areas of King County on their rights and responsibilities, and those of landlords. Tenant Services offers a voice message line where callers leave a voice mail detailing the issues they are in need of support to manage.

Supporting each of these callers with updated rental law, community resources, options to remain housed, and alleviate evictions, is vital to this program.

Volunteers can expect to:

  • Listen to and transcribe voice mail messages from callers
  • Contact callers to fill out intake sheets that will help Tenant Counselors prepare information to return calls
  • Enroll callers into the internal database/Caseworthy
  • Email community resources to callers, with guidance from Tenant Counselors

The voice message line is open Mondays and Thursdays 10:30am - 1:30pm, except on holidays. We also need administrative support on Tuesdays and Fridays. Volunteer schedules are flexible.

Your skills can support our Tenant Counselors in educating the community on tenant rights. Interested in helping us address the homelessness crisis? Contact Solid Ground Volunteer Services today!

About Solid Ground

1501 N 45TH ST, SEATTLE, WA 98103, US

Mission Statement

Our mission... Solid Ground works to end poverty and undo racism and other oppressions that are root causes of poverty. Our vision... Solid Ground believes our community can move beyond poverty and oppression to a place where all people have access to quality housing, nutritious food, equal justice and opportunities to thrive. Our values... Solid Ground is committed to working with compassion, integrity, accountability, creativity and an anti-oppression approach to end homelessness, hunger, inequality and other barriers to social justice. We value collaboration and leadership from the communities we serve.

Our history...

Solid Ground was founded in 1974 by community leaders and concerned citizens of one of Seattle's then most economically devastated neighborhoods, Fremont. Originally called the Fremont Public Association, our services - emergency food bank, clothing bank, and employment program - reflected the desperate needs and determined response of a mobilized and committed neighborhood.

Solid Ground today...

As the scope and severity of homelessness and poverty have increased over the years, so too have our reach to our greater community and our range of services. Now based in Seattle’s Wallingford neighborhood, our 30 programs and services help more than 60,000 households each year overcome poverty and build better futures throughout King County and beyond.
