Sanctuary Hostel is a project to create an animal shelter/ hostel/ community garden where we will work with other nonprofits in both Mexico and the US. Our model plans to be self-sustaining in that we will not rely solely on donations but also be supported by income from the Hostel. We have the land and are working with an architect to design custom buildings.

We are looking for a few Project Manager Volunteers to plan, coordinate, implement, and manage fundraising projects including crowdfunding campaigns, grants, partners, and other fundraising and development opportunities. These initial fundraising efforts are critical to support the construction of our new animal shelter/hostel/garden community project. Lead volunteers must be reliable, communicative, and passionate for our cause. A bonus if you have experience writing, storytelling, managing projects or events, and/or fundraising! This role is flexible in hours and in what specifically you pursue to accomplish for the nonprofit, with a dedicated team meeting once a week.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Leading team meetings to ensure team member understanding of projects, tasks, priorities, and solving issues when help is needed.
  • Leading brainstorming sessions to develop fundraising strategy and planning with guidance from board members and advisors
  • Develop our nonprofit’s story to apply for support from aligned organizations and potential donors
  • Oversee the quality and content of copy that is created in marketing events and campaigns to ensure brand loyalty and identity is maintained
  • Create fundraising campaigns to educate and attract donors for physical items or monetary donations
  • Plan and manage Fundraising events
  • Assess and report results of campaigns or fundraiser events and efforts and apply improvements and recommendations where and when necessary
  • Create an annual fundraising plan and budget to include resources, and staffing needed
  • Coordinate with the marketing team and public relations volunteers to support fundraising efforts

Candidates may be remote or hybrid for this position. Currently all recurring meetings and work is done remotely

  • Shall sign a volunteer agreement upon joining the volunteer team.
  • Have a fervent desire to support animals and eco-travelling. Honest, reliable and dedicated to the cause.
  • Use clear and direct communication using compassion and respect. Ensures cohesion and effectiveness by driving integrity and openness.

We are building an animal shelter/ hostel/ community garden. Our model aims to be self sufficient so we wont rely on donations in order to care for the animals we rescue. Travelers can stay and volunteer with us in exchange for a bed. The community can learn to grow and cook plant based meals with us.
