DBA Lucky Dog Thrift Shop, are looking for a non-profit retail support professional to join our volunteer team! Thank you for taking your time to review our current need!
Volunteer position overview
The retail support professional is responsible for behind-the-scene shop operations in addition to assisting on the sales floor as necessary for excellent customer experience. We seek an individual that is high-energy, motivated/self-starting and has excellent follow-through. We are passionate about creating a positive memorable experience for our customers, volunteers and employees thru aesthetic beauty, cleanliness and a friendly demeanor. Our Retail Support Volunteer is someone who is thorough, is a team player and can predict the needs of the shop on a day-to-day basis. The ideal volunteer is eager to help in every aspect of the thrift shop including opening and closing procedures, accepting/hauling donations, cleaning items to be placed on the sales floor, testing electronics, assisting customers on the sales floor, has an ability to upsell and deter the frequent shoplifters, has a desire to be present on the sales floor and readily available to help any person whether a co-worker/volunteer, shopper, board member, donor, or client. We seek an individual to join our volunteer team that pursues excellence in their daily life, someone that goes above-and-beyond and takes pride in working hard (work ethic) without needing regular direction/guidance. Other required tasks are cleaning including vacuuming, bathrooms, windows, trash collection/sorting/removal, being a team player, and an excellent multitasker.
Desired Characteristics
We need an individual who is approachable and energetic. We are looking for someone that is passionate about an excellent quality retail experience and has an eye for beautiful presentation and detail. We seek an individual whose personality compliments the team by being friendly, kind and dependable.
Position Responsibilities
- An ability to lift 50-75 pounds.
- An ability to climb a stool/ladder.
- An ability to bend, kneel, lift, haul.
- Available one hour or more each week between 8:30am-5:30pm Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday
Highly Desirable Skills
Handy person/comfortable using tools and making minor repairs/maintenance
Has an interest in growing with the organization
Is passionate about helping animals and the environment
Eager to learn and fast-paced;

Strong organizational skills;
Merchandising ability;

Retail experience;
Human resource and/or legal experience;

Bilingual or desire to learn.

Tails to Freedom, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization with proceeds going directly to animal emergency medical/welfare needs in and around our community. Our small team is dedicated to raising awareness about the protection of animals and the environment. Through humane education and financial assistance services, we strive to make a positive impact in our community. Out of this mission, Lucky Dog Thrift Shop was born as the fundraising headquarters to Tails to Freedom. We have assisted over 4,000 animals in need right here in New Hampshire (& beyond) since our Shop doors opened nearly thirteen years ago in May 2009. Lucky Dog Thrift Shop is a bargain hunter’s paradise. Located in downtown Nashua, NH our shop offers two floors of everything from fashion to furniture in a fun and relaxing environment.

Out of this mission, Lucky Dog Thrift Shop (LDTS) was born as the fundraising headquarters to Tails to Freedom. We have assisted over 4,000 animals in need right here in New Hampshire since our Shop doors opened twelve years ago in May 2009. Lucky Dog Thrift Shop is a bargain hunter’s paradise. Located in downtown Nashua, NH our shop offers two floors of everything from fashion to furniture in a fun and relaxing environment
In the near future we plan to raise funds that will help us to fulfill our vision of developing an Education Center and Animal Sanctuary. The mission of the Education Center is to create interest and raise awareness via lectures, exhibits, various forms of audio/visual presentations and special events. It will feature a state of the art auditorium, a resale shop - all proceeds will benefit the center, a specialty store with Earth friendly and animal related merchandise, a children’s play area and a vegan cafĂ©.
