This role is specifically to help our Logistics and In-kind Department.

The In-Kind Logistics Veteran Internship is responsible for the management and processing of all in-kind donations to the organization for two holiday programs, Holiday Community Partners and Treats for Troops.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Process all incoming donations during holiday campaigns.
• Complete the appropriate Soldiers’ Angels in-kind donation records as well as the filing of in-kind records and VA donation records for assigned in-kind donations.
• Assist with all aspects of shipping and receiving, to include unloading delivery trucks and/or freight shipments.
• Prepares packages and pallets to be shipped out daily.
• Maintains a safe and clear work area by keeping shelves, pallets and workstations neat and organized.
• Work and communicate with donors and business participants to engage them for both programs.
• Recruit and manage volunteers to assist with packing and sorting candy, packing and inspecting stockings and processing donations. Works with Sign up Genius and schedules volunteers for shifts to ensure proper volunteer coverage to keep up with the demand.
• Work with VA Reps, Program Managers, VP of Programs, Senior Director of Field Operations, and Regional Directors to know the needs in the local areas to best direct holiday in-kind donations quickly and efficiently and ensuring product is needed at receiving site.
• Work with VA reps, Regional Directors, and Area Managers to ensure proper networks and resources are established to utilize all candy for the Treats for Troops campaign.
• Work with VA sites on needs for additional goods to re-package and fill all holiday stockings for proper use.

REQUIRED MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED TO BE A VETERAN (DEALBREAKER)

• Some college preferred, but not required.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Able to regularly lift up to 70 lbs.

• High energy and passion for Soldiers’ Angels’ mission is essential

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A professional and resourceful style; the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time.

• Computer proficiency, with expertise in Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Must pass a background check
