Job Title: Financial Officer Volunteer at American Support for Afghanistan (ASA)

Location: Remote/You must reside in the United States to apply for this position.

Job Type: Part-Time

Overview:

American Support for Afghanistan (ASA) is seeking a skilled and experienced Volunteer Financial Officer to join our team. ASA is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women and children in Afghanistan for successful social change. The Volunteer Financial Officer will play a critical role in managing ASA's finances, and contribute to our mission of restoring and continuing development in Afghanistan.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in developing and maintaining budgets for various programs and events, and monitor expenses to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints
• Assist in preparing financial statements and reports for the Executive Director
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections
• Help provide financial guidance and support to the Executive Director and other staff members as needed
• Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations, including preparation and filing of tax forms and reports
• Maintain accurate financial records, and ensure that all financial transactions are properly documented
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of experience in financial management, preferably in a non-profit setting
• Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures
• Proficiency in financial management software, and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, and make informed recommendations to management
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Familiarity with non-profit accounting and tax laws and regulations
• Passion for ASA's mission and dedication to making a positive impact in Afghanistan
