ORGANIZATION: VANTAGE Aging RSVP

Basic volunteer duties involved with this assignment:

  1. Greet each visitor to the building in a welcoming manner. Greeters provide visitors with general information about Summit Artspace and our exhibitions.
  2. Keep count of visitors to the building.
  3. Answer general questions from visitors about the building and current exhibitions, or refer questions to staff.

What is the anticipated benefit of this volunteer service to those receiving the service?

Summit Artspace public hours allow artists to interact with the public through studio space and exhibitions. Greeters help to make visitors feel comfortable and oriented, further encouraging interactions between the public and artists.

What specific skills will the volunteer need?

Ability to stand or sit in one place for a few hours at a time (with breaks as needed). Ability to communicate with visitors and staff.

Description

VANTAGE Aging promotes positive aging through a variety of programs and services for older adults. Our nonprofit organization serves 38 counties and is headquartered in Akron, Ohio. In Summit and Medina Counties, we facilitate the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) for those 55 and older who want to make a meaningful impact in the community. We also offer employment training, home care and home health aide assistance, nutrition and home-delivered meal services, alcohol and drug addiction counseling, and mental health and prevention services.
