Each year, hundreds of Middlesex County children spend time in foster care. Often confused, frightened and caught in multiple government systems, these children need a dedicated, caring adult looking out solely for their best interests. By donating an average of just few hours a week, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) make a real and lasting difference in the lives of these vulnerable children.

CASA of Middlesex County is seeking volunteers to help the many Middlesex County children who lack an advocate in their corner. We train and support our volunteers, equipping them with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed in helping children in foster care. As a CASA volunteer, you will be part of a supportive network of people dedicated to changing lives.

CASA volunteers spend time with the child, communicate with people involved in the child’s life, including teachers, doctors, family members, caregivers and others involved in the child’s life, and make recommendations to the family court to ensure the best decisions are made on behalf of the child with regard to living arrangements, needed services, education and other critical factors in a child’s life.

An ideal CASA volunteer has a passion for justice, the ability to think clearly and critically and an interest in child welfare. CASA volunteers come from all walks of life. You must be at least 21 years old and agree to background checks. Volunteers make a commitment to work with the children they are assigned, for at least 18 months and preferably for the duration of the case. CASA volunteers come from all walks of life, with a variety of professional, educational, and ethnic backgrounds. There are more than 75,000 CASA volunteers nationally.
