ORGANIZATION: USDA Forest Service

The Wilderness Ranger District of the Gila National Forest is seeking a friendly volunteer with excellent customer service skills to work 20 hours per week in the front office of the ranger station providing information to the public in person or by phone. This position consists of light office work and is perfect for someone who likes assisting people and giving out information on the local area. Prior knowledge of the area is a plus, but not necessary.

The ranger station is located on Highway 35 about 20 minutes from Lake Roberts. Daily tasks include answering phones, greeting visitors, and providing information on the Gila National Forest regarding recreational opportunities, wood cutting permits, closures, current conditions, rules, etc. Other light duties may be assigned as needed.

The 20 hours per week are during the regular work week of Mon-Fri. No weekends are required, and scheduling can be flexible.

An RV pad and laundry facilities are available on site at the ranger district. After completing 250 hours of volunteer time, you will earn an annual America the Beautiful park pass.
