ORGANIZATION: Cancer Support Community Arizona

Cancer Support Community Arizona (CSCAZ)'s mission is to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered through knowledge, strengthened by action, and sustained by community. CSCAZ offers cost-free programming for any individual who's life has been impacted by cancer. We are excited to share that CSCAZ is currently seeking new members to join our Young Professional Council. The Young Professionals Council is a group of emerging leaders, who are passionate about utilizing their platform within our community to network and increase awareness and funds So That No One Faces Cancer Alone (r).Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Commit to attend 10 of the 12 monthly meetings
  • Fulfill annual dues of $120- Qualifies for the Qualified Charitable Tax Credit (AZ)
  • Plan and support the YPC annual Trivia Night fundraising event through your time, talent and treasure (March)
  • Serve a one-year/12-month term
  • Begins at the date of application
  • Volunteer at other CSCAZ events such as Porch Party Gala (October), Trunk or Treat (October), Night of Hope (December)
  • Promote CSCAZ and recruit for sustainability of the YPC
Physical Demands:
  • Must be located in the Phoenix metro area and able to physically attend monthly meetings
  • During events, this position will require a combination of both being on your feet and seated for extended periods of time
Special Considerations: Please understand the population that Cancer Support Community serves. We are there to support any individual at any stage of their diagnosis, along with any loved one that may be affected by a person’s diagnosis. We may encounter individuals on their worst and best days of their life. Time Commitment:
  • One year/ 12-month term
  • 10 of the 12 monthly meetings
  • Additional time will be requested to commit to all YPC volunteer commitments

Description

Cancer Support Community Arizona provides the only comprehensive Program of psychosocial services to people diagnosed with cancer and their loved ones in the state of Arizona. Our Program offers Emotional Support Services, Healthy Lifestyle Activities, Educational Seminars, Social Connections and Resources and Referral. Our services are evidence-based, professionally facilitated and provided at no cost to our participants. Through participation in our Program, people affected by cancer learn vital skills that enable them to regain control, reduce isolation and restore hope regardless of the stage of disease.

  • We ask for a minimum commitment of 6 months. Opportunities will be shared with Ambassadors for as they arise. The goal would be 1-2 events per month.
