You can help create a more sustainable and equitable food system in the San Francisco Bay Area! Gain the skills needed and access useful tools for reaching out to engaging local governments. You will work with others to promote the adoption of tried and true policy and programming.
HomeGrown Bay Area is a newly formed coalition of Bay Area organizations and individuals with a shared vision for 2030. We are working towards a San Francisco Bay Area with:
- Good Food for ALL - making healthy food, which is predominantly plant-based and minimally processed, accessible and affordable for all,
- Local & Sustainable Farming Practices - supporting small, local farms, including urban farms, with sustainable, regenerative and carbon-reducing farming methods,
- Fair Trade - prioritizes and ensures the safety and well-being of food workers, and
- Zero Waste - minimizes the loss and waste of food from farm to fork.
Our vision is a circular economy with more jobs and better food that supports the health and sustainability of people and the planet.

Mission Statement
Acterra is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that brings people together to create local solutions for a healthy planet. We work with residents, businesses, local governments, students, and organizations to support advocacy and education for climate action. We have been a community based organization since 1970.
Description
Acterra is an environmental non-profit serving the Silicon Valley. We provide people with tangible, hands-on activities they can do to improve the environment. All of our work is solution-oriented. We offer several thousand volunteer opportunities each year for adults and youth. Because people get excited by different things, we offer a broad range of programs, from habitat restoration to carbon reduction and more. As importantly, we teach people how to become effective environmental change agents in their communities, neighborhoods, workplaces and schools.
Currently our programs include: Healthy Plate, Healthy Planet; Karl Knapp GoEV, You(th) Be the Change; Green@Home; HomeGrown Bay Area, and Acterra's Student Ambassadors Program.
