Have 10 hours a week to spare? Flex your project management and event planning muscles to help create a more sustainable and equitable food system in the San Francisco Bay Area!

HomeGrown Bay Area is a newly formed coalition of Bay Area organizations and individuals with a shared vision for 2030. We are working towards a San Francisco Bay Area with:

  • Good Food for ALL - making healthy food, which is predominantly plant-based and minimally processed, accessible and affordable for all,
  • Local & Sustainable Farming Practices - supporting small, local farms, including urban farms, with sustainable, regenerative and carbon-reducing farming methods,
  • Fair Trade - prioritizes and ensures the safety and well-being of food workers, and
  • Zero Waste - minimizes the loss and waste of food from farm to fork.

Our vision is a circular economy with more jobs and better food that supports the health and sustainability of people and the planet. We are planning a series of educational events, kicking off with a summit in October 2022 to provide solutions, encourage collaboration, and bring about change. We need your help to realize these important events!

You'll help coordinate and lead event team meetings, manage the event plan, assign tasks, and track progress to ensure the team stays on schedule. Promote the event(s) and outreach to local government officials and staff to encourage attendance. This is an exciting and essential role!

Mission Statement

Acterra brings people together to create local solutions for a healthy planet.

Acterra is an environmental non-profit serving the Silicon Valley. We provide people with tangible, hands-on activities they can do to improve the environment. All of our work is solution-oriented. We offer several thousand volunteer opportunities each year for adults and youth. Because people get excited by different things, we offer a broad range of programs, from habitat restoration to carbon reduction and more. As importantly, we teach people how to become effective environmental change agents in their communities, neighborhoods, workplaces and schools.

Currently our programs include: Stewardship program, Business Environmental Awards, Green@Home, and the Environmental Library and Resource Center.
