The Town of Capitol Heights will be hosting a Back 2 School Community Day on Saturday, Aug. 20th at Town Hall grounds from 12 pm - 4 pm. This event is being planned by our current Mayor and City Council. We are expecting about 200-300 people to come through. There will be activities, performances, games, music and a school supply giveaway. We will also have a variety of vendors and informational booths. We are looking for ANY volunteers who would be willing to provide the following:

  • A Food Truck that will want to set up for the 4 hour event. Residents that come through can purchase food from the food truck.
  • Different kinds of vendors who would like to sell or promote their products, services, or organization.
  • Different kinds of amusements, such as:
    • Face Painter
    • Clown
    • Magician
    • Impersonator
    • Etc.
  • Family friendly entertainment that be shared from the stage or conducted on the grounds
    • Music, Dancing, Singing, Choirs, etc.
  • Any workers who would like to help with set up and tear down
  • Any organizations that have free services to offer the residents on site

Mission Statement

In 1910, the approximately 200 householders voted to incorporate their community as Capitol Heights. Over the next 100 years, the Town has made great strides in improving its infrastructure and services. Today, 90% of the population of Capitol Heights is African-American, and the Town has an African-American mayor.


We are pleased and excited to celebrate the 28th Annual Capitol Heights Day on Saturday, June 8, 2019. This community event celebrates the culture, diversity, and rich heritage of Capitol Heights, MD with a day of celebration. This event includes an exciting parade, a full-day lineup of talented performers, as well as many recreational and amusement activities for every age. We are in need of volunteers to help this event to continue to be of the highest possible quality for the Town of Capitol Heights.
