ORGANIZATION: Sutter Care at Home - Hospice https://www.sutterhealth.org/scah

Are you a quilter or crocheter and need a place to donate your items? Please consider donating to them to Hospice of the Valley to provide to dying patients.

Patients sometimes are isolated and these gifts of love bring them comfort and joy. Some of the items crafters have donated in the past are paintings, lap blankets, scarves, hats, lap pillows, paper flowers in vases, drawings, home made bears, fidget sleeves and more. The possibilities are endless. Please keep in mind due to infection control all donated items must be new and not used.

This is truly a rewarding experience knowing that you are bringing joy, smiles and comfort to patients that are dying.

If you are interested in donating items you can contact me at teri.brown@sutterhealth.org.

Location:

1025 Atlantice Ave, Suite 100, Alameda, CA 94501, US

Mission Statement

Sutter Care at Home enhances the health and well being of the people in the communities we serve through a not-for-profit commitment to compassion and excellence in home-based services and products.

Description

To become a hospice volunteer at Sutter Care at Home the greatest gift you can offer is your time, your caring nature, and your willingness to listen. Training and ongoing support are provided to all volunteers, so experience is not required. It's a great opportunity to learn new skills and enhance existing ones. Volunteers are trained to enhance the overall goal of meeting the physical, emotional, spiritual and practical needs of hospice patients and their families.

Volunteers may stay with the patient to give the caregiver some time away or time to rest and they can be a caring companion and compassionate listener to both patients and families. While volunteers cannot provide clinical or personal care, they may be able to assist with routine tasks and errands.

Requirements: Volunteers receive 24 hours of training, health clearance and a background check, and attend monthly educational meetings. They must work closely with Volunteer Program Coordinator as members of the hospice team.
