Volunteers needed to assist with upcoming Books and Brunch event to be held at Capital Area Literacy Coalition - The Reading People on Saturday, September 10th. Help support our vision of Empowerment Through Literacy! as we give away books and serve brunch to attendees.
At the event, we hope to give away hundreds of books for free! We have a great variety of books including fiction, nonfiction, infant, preschool, school age through 12th grade level, cookbooks, poetry, political, religious, humor, travel and more! There are books for everyone.
Volunteer opportunities at the event include set up, food area, greeting & wayfinding, parking area, book giveaway volunteer, event photography, and tear down.
Pre-Event Prep and Post Event Wrap Up help is also needed.
COVID-19 requirements for volunteers include PPE (masks when indoors) and social distancing. Common surfaces will be frequently sanitized.

Description
Capital Area Literacy Coalition is a nonprofit organization in Lansing, Michigan. Also called The Reading People, the organization provides a variety of free services to empower people to achieve their personal goals through literacy. We believe that the ability to read is critical to personal freedom and the maintenance of a democratic society. We provide free one-to-one instruction in reading and writing for children struggling in school, at-risk teens, and adults. We also provide tutoring to migrant and refugee families, GED services, and English as a Second Language instruction. All our programs and services are free and powered by volunteers.
