The Park Place is an organization focused on closing the opportunity gap for Latine youth and families through equitable access to opportunities leadership, education, advocacy, and preservation of culture. For our Literacy Volunteers, we're looking for individuals who enjoy working with elementary students from Kindergarten through 5th grade on Monday evenings from 4:15pm to 6:15pm. All of our students are English Language Learners with varying levels of fluency in English from fluent to beginner. They are a fun, bright, and joyful group of about twenty kids that meet weekly to enhance their English literacy in a fun, interactive way.
Volunteers would primarily focus on building positive relationships with program kids, contributing to literacy skills through being a "reading buddy", supporting in art rotation, and supporting with phonics in a fun and engaging way.
