SAME Café is a donation-based, fair exchange restaurant that serves healthy food to everyone, regardless of ability to pay. Our mission is to create community through healthy food access. We believe in healthy food, community, and dignity for everyone. Each guest who comes through the door is treated exactly the same. Guests order from the healthy menu of mostly local, organic food and then let us know how they would like to participate in the community in exchange for the meal: volunteering time, giving produce, or donating money.

SAME Café has no set prices and no set menus. Daily selections are made using fresh, organic ingredients and are funded by donations of time, produce, and money from guests and supporters. Our philosophy is that everyone, regardless of economic status, deserves the chance to eat healthy food while being treated with dignity.

We offer two types of volunteer opportunities: a) walk-in volunteers who exchange 1/2 hour of time for a meal and b) pre-scheduled volunteers who take a shift of 1-3 hours to help the mission of SAME! Volunteers will be put to work prepping food, serving, dish washing, cleaning tables, & various projects.

a) If you want to exchange volunteer time for a meal, just show up at the Café and order a delicious meal! When you check out, let us know you would like to exchange time for the meal and we will get you signed up for a shift that day.

b) If you want to pre-schedule a volunteer shift, please email toledo@soallmayeat.org to let us know your availability. We will be in touch to schedule the first shift we have based on your availability. Space is limited and we have a lot of volunteers, so you must schedule your volunteer time ahead of time through email. All volunteers must be fifteen years of age or older.

Groups volunteer opportunities are limited and must be scheduled well in advance. These fill up quickly, so let us know your interest in group volunteering as soon as possible!

Community Service: If you are looking to complete court appointed community service hours, you must have approval before your first shift. Please email toledo@soallmayeat.org for further information.
