Indiana State Fair

All aboard this year’s Indiana History Train at the Indiana State Fair! We are celebrating Hoosier inventions and innovators, and we need your help!

Volunteers are needed July 29-August 21 (State Fair is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays) to greet visitors and help with crowd flow in the exhibit.

There are two shifts per day:

  • Shift 1: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Shift 2: 5 to 7 p.m.

You will be both indoors and outdoors with access to seating, drinks and snacks. Volunteers receive free parking and admission to the fair!

Mission Statement

Since 1830, the Indiana Historical Society has been Indiana’s Storytellerâ„¢, connecting people to the past by collecting, preserving, interpreting and disseminating the state's history. A private, nonprofit membership organization, IHS maintains the nation's premier research library and archives on the history of Indiana and the Old Northwest. IHS also provides support and assistance to local museums and historical groups, publishes books and periodicals; sponsors teacher workshops; and provides youth, adult and family programming.

History should not be viewed-it should be experienced. You can help make a real connection with the past by volunteering at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center. From interacting with our guest to working with our historic collections, IHS has a great volunteer opportunity that is right for you.
