This position supports the Regional Disaster department. Helps serve on a Disaster Action Team as a worker (in-training) on a DAT response to provide 24-hour immediate support and assistance to individuals and families who have been impacted by a home fire or other local disaster. Some key responsibilities are working as part of an assigned team to respond to local disasters within two hours, and delivering immediate direct client assistance in accordance with Red Cross standards and procedures. Also includes working with on-scene lead to assess whether additional resources/support are required and communicates those needs to DAT Leadership. The position is focused on local disasters. The time commitment can vary for this position based on the shifts you sign up for but they do look for a minimum of 6 hours per shift (usually).
