Yaya por Vida Foundation has integrated work in the areas of harm reduction supplies, especially for our houseless SUD victims living on the streets with limited access to care. Wound care, meals, clothing, Naloxone kits/training and resources to seek no to low cost treatment, permanent housing and more. Care kit drives are conducted monthly-once in Miami and Once in Ft. Pierce. Since our first drive in September 2020, we have passed out a total of 1643 care kits and 98 saved lives thanks to our houseless residents using our Naloxone to revive a bystander or friend. We also combine our care kit drives with community clean up and deep relationship building with the folks we meet. Funding is used to create community outreach events, fundraisers, create life savings programs for youth and adults alike with cultural compliance in mind, wellness and art programs for victims of SUD.

About YAYA POR VIDA

Location:

661 SW DALTON CIRCLE, PORT ST LUCIE, FL 34953, US

Mission Statement

Yaya Por Vida improves the quality of life of people who use drugs and those who suffer from substance use disorder, by providing education and access to resources with the stroke of a paintbrush.

Description

We hold monthly care kit drop-off on monthly in Overtown Miami and Ft. Pierce. This will not be your typical care kit although essentials such as food, water, and hygiene supplies will be part of the kit. Our goal is to reduce harm in a situation where one of our housleess brothers and sisters are suffering from substance use. We want to keep them safe just as we would want to keep our family safe. These kits will include wound care, COVID19 protection, resources for substance abuse treatment, and clean needle exchange programs (amongst other local need-based resources), condoms, and Narcan. We will not just drop off supplies. Our housless population is highly marginalized and discriminated against. They need our support, motivation, and attention. We will get to know them, listen to their stories, and share time with them when others will not. Narcan training, overdose awareness, harm reduction training, treatment advocacy, and substance abuse disorder education will be provided. Our end goal is to facilitate treatment at no cost and permanent housing.
