Help in our Clinic

This position requires a person familiar with or willing to learn how to give injections. The volunteer injects the cat with a dose of anesthesia while someone holds the cat (if it is tame), or through a trap (if it is feral or unknown). The protocols are designed to insure the safety of the volunteers and the cats. If the cat is a female, the bladder is expressed or emptied. A number is put in each cat’s ear with a sharpie marker. This is an excellent position for anyone pursuing a vet tech or nursing career, or anyone comfortable around cats and willing to learn.

About Forgotten Cats

Location:

PMB 422, 4023 Kennett Pike, Greenville, DE 19807, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to humanely reduce the homeless and unwanted cat population through Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR). Forgotten Cats finds homes for socialized cats through two PetSmart Adoption Centers in Delaware and three in Pennsylvania. We sterilize an average of 1000 cats in our two medical clinics and adopt out 80-100 socialized cats each month.

Description

By working with colony caretakers throughout Pennsylania, Delaware, and New Jersey, Forgotten Cats will trap, neuter, and return an entire colony, sterilizing and vaccinating all cats and providing medical treatment when necessary. Tame cats and kittens are transferred into our foster care system until properly socialized and eventually adopted into loving homes.

Most rescue groups' efforts are limited to finding homes for homeless cats, but the number of homeless cats and kittens born each day far exceed the number of homes available. That's why Forgotten Cats works to solve the unwanted cat probelm permanently and humanely. We also offer low-cost spay/neuter services and vaccinations to the general public, and provide education about spaying and neutering and the pet overpopulation problem.
