Home Delivery Volunteers commit to regularly delivering nutritious groceries to our senior and home-bound clients. This opportunity is a hands-on activity and is open to individuals who are at least 18 years old and can pass a background check and provide proof of auto insurance and a valid driver's license. As volunteers, you use your own vehicle, mileage and gas to deliver food. As a home delivery volunteer, you will work onsite at the distribution location and help prepare food for delivery. You will load boxes, so you must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. You must follow a pre-established route, follow Food Safety and COVID 19 Health Guidance, and have excellent client service skills that include a desire to interact with older clients or clients with disabilities. Once you have completed your first volunteer shift, you can decide if you would like to commit as a long-term volunteer. If you would like to move forward, you must sign a Home Delivery Volunteer Agreement and submit to a background check before the next volunteer event.
If you have further questions you may contact Jessica Silverstein, our Home Delivery Coordinator at jsilverstein@shfb.org

Mission Statement
Lead our community to ensure that anyone who needs a healthy meal can get one.
Description
Second Harvest of Silicon Valley is a private non-profit organization that collects and distributes more than 12 million pounds of food each month. We currently serve an average of over 500,000 individuals each month; 60% are low income families and 20% are seniors. By building collaborative networks, we efficiently distribute food by leveraging donations of money, food and human resources. But we cannot do it alone. We rely upon the energy and commitment of the local community to fight hunger. See more about our efforts at www.shfb.org.
