ORGANIZATION: Amelia Island Book Festival

The Amelia Island Book Festival (AIBF) is seeking a One Book, One Community Program Chair, whose responsibility is to coordinate and manage the One Book, One Community (OBOC), event in April. This event is led by the Nassau County Library. AIBF typically provides communications and ticketing for this event. The Chair will work closely with the Nassau County Library Staff and coordinate with the AIBF Tech/Ticketing Team to understand and communicate attendance. On the day of the event, be present and visible as the OBOC Chair/AIBF representative. The event will follow COVID-19 social distancing guidelines as suggested by the CDC.

The Amelia Island Book Festival is a Florida registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Amelia Island, Florida, United States. Our mission is to promote lifelong learning for people of all ages within Nassau County. We nurture an appreciation for literacy by providing quality events featuring Local and New York Times Best Selling Authors, essay contests, scholarships and much more!

Description

We were founded in 2001. Our signature event, the Award-Winning Authors in Schools Program brings authors into every school in Nassau County to engage and inspire students from pre-kindergarten through high school. This 360-degree, impactful learning experience is lauded by educators.

Here is what the Amelia Island Book Festival has accomplished during our first 20 years:

  • Invested over $2M in Nassau County Literacy

  • Brought over 1500 authors and over 100 New York Times Best Selling authors to Nassau County as part of the festival

  • Distributed over 100,000 books to Nassau County students

  • Reviewed over 1,200 student short story and scholarship submissions

  • Published over 300 short stories

  • Awarded annual College Scholarships
