Scion Trust, a Kenyan Incorporated public charity is in need of an experienced grant writer specialized in agroforestry, agriculture, permaculture, reforestation, business/market or gardening related project proposals to help us in writing a proposal for our proposed market focused agroforestry project.

About us:
Scion Trust seeks to promote sustainable human development through the development of productive social and economic capabilities, the implementation of environmentally friendly practices, and the generation of economic opportunities aimed at improving access to markets and ensuring adequate food for rural families in Kenya.

Challenge
Deforestation is a major cause of poverty and global climate change. We are working with farmers and communities to reverse deforestation, improve their lives, and combat climate change.

Change of climate has negatively affected food production, Water levels continues to drop with erratic rainy seasons leading to increased droughts and famines. Scarcity of food and reduction of breeding zones is making wild animals to attack farmlands every season. This is further escalated by the fact that the neighbouring communities derive fodder and many other forest based resources which affect food availability for the wildlife.

About the project:
This intervention relates to Countering climate change. Our strategy is based on sustainable Forest and Land use by promoting reforestation, agroforestry.

The objective is using natural ecosystems restoration process to evolve climate-positive and inclusive economy to lift 50,000 peasant families out of abject poverty and bring unparalleled wealth and growth.

This project is particularly relevant to Biodiversity and the Sustainable Development Goals #For Nature:
GOAL 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
GOAL 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
GOAL 13: Climate Action
GOAL 15: Life on Land
