In collaboration with the RCOO, Emergency Coordinators and Deputy Emergency Coordinators will have the following responsibilities:

  • Ensure completed Emergency Action Plan [EAP] is posted in each facility
  • Ensure workforce [employees and volunteers] in each facility is aware of the EAP and appropriate actions in case of emergency
  • Ensure facility-specific information is added to the Emergency Contact List
  • Ensure Hazard Vulnerability Assessment is conducted
  • Ensure optional emergency protocol is selected based on facility risk
  • Ensure facility is included in an exercise or drill as required by internal Red Cross policy and/or local ordinances
  • Ensure the facility’s functional team call down tree is accurate
  • Participate in quarterly calls/meetings with Regional Emergency Action Planning Committee
  • Support regional readiness efforts that promote personal preparedness among workforce
  • In collaboration with Disaster Cycle Services [DCS] team, establish communications and coordination with local emergency management agencies for receiving threat assessments that contribute to situational awareness
  • Support regional safety strategy and activities as established by RCOO
  • Respond and make decisions about immediate response to no-notice emergencies within a Red Cross facility
