We have amazing volunteers that help make hundreds of pillowcases each year. That's just the beginning. Each pillowcase gets washed, ironed and folded once it arrives at Claire Parker Foundation. Then comes the final piece, our signature Claire Parker Foundation patch.

Currently we have a need for seamstresses that can help add patches to hundreds of pillowcases. If you have this talent and are interested in volunteering please contact us.

Pillowcases are available to pick up in groups of 50 from Altavista or Danville. You will work on the pillowcases in your home or business and return them when completed. Someone can also meet you if you are fairly local but unable to come to Altavista or Danville.

Mission Statement

Helping to improve the quality of life for children with cancer.

Description

At Claire Parker Foundation we provide quality of life resources to pediatric cancer patients and their families. They do not have to walk alone.
We currently have 5 programs:
Care Box: Our goal is to deliver a Care Box into the hands of every family fighting pediatric cancer in the region as soon as they walk through the hospital doors. Claire's Care Box has evolved over the years to become an invaluable encouragement to families beginning pediatric cancer treatment. It contains items for their basic needs and to bring encouragement.

Creative Therapy Program: This allows young children to have fun, feel beautiful, and be creative during their difficult treatments. All items are packed in a cinch style bag so things can be easily taken home. Happy Birthday Box: Spending your birthday in the hospital receiving treatments is the last place anyone wants to be. This box includes things like a homemade pillowcase, birthday banner, and a gift card to go birthday shopping.
End of Treatment Box: To celebrate their end of treatment, we have included a personal bell, camera, autograph book with pens, a "You're a Hero" patch, and a wooden memory box for any keepsakes they may have accumulated during their journey.
End of Life Program: This is a 3 phase program to provide support as no family should ever grieve alone.

We have 2 major fundraisers each year: Claire House: Restore Communities, Help Kids with Cancer. And our Annual 5K Race, Deck the Heels, held each year on the second Sat in Dec in Altavista, VA
