About The KID-FIT Preschool Health and Fitness Organization
135 W. Maple Ave, Monrovia, CA 91016, US
KID-FIT™ provides preschool age children, their primary caretakers and educators with a structured curriculum designed to promote healthy lifestyle habits. The physical education (PE) and fitness curriculum instills the healthy behaviors of regular exercise, sound nutrition and proper rest in children ages two-five (2-5).
Using generally accepted exercise and nutrition principals, KID-FIT strives to build positive associations with exercise and good nutrition, thereby increasing the likelihood that future generations will be more physically fit and the incidences of preventable illnesses like heart disease, obesity, diabetes, stroke and other diseases that result from unhealthy lifestyles and habits, will be reduced.
The licensed KID-FIT curriculum is an effective and cost-efficient method to effectively teach young children the basics of healthy eating and fitness through age-appropriate physical fitness classes including sports skills, gymnastics, dance, rhythm, creative movement, and nutrition education.
All preschool children need to take part in regular fitness activities. Experts agree the most effective workout program designed to improve health, prevent obesity and heart disease, and instill healthy lifestyle habits needs to begin by the age of two (2).

The impact of childhood obesity among children is a critical health issue and has become an epidemic affecting America's youth.
The US Surgeon General has identified the childhood obesity epidemic as one of the greatest health challenges facing our nation today. Pre-K through 12 schools are realizing the important correlation between a healthy mind and a healthy body for academic success but often lack resources to implement programs to effectively and consistently address physical inactivity and poor nutrition.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that the number of overweight children aged 6 to 11 has tripled since 1960. The total annual cost of obesity is now estimated at $190 billion in 2014. Childhood obesity is responsible for $14.1 billion. California alone spends $41 billion.
Obesity is the result of lifestyle habits. A major contributor is caloric imbalance, too few calories expended for the amount of calories consumed. Overweight children are more prone to bone and joint problems, sleep apnea, and social and psychological problems such as stigmatization and poor self-esteem. They are more likely to become overweight or obese adults, and more at risk for heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, stroke, cancer and osteoarthritis.
Healthy lifestyle habits, like those promoted by KID-FIT participation, can lower the risks and negative consequences of becoming overweight. We strive to combat childhood obesity and the development of related childhood diseases, as well as subsequent adult health-related problems, by providing fun, age-appropriate activities focused on proper nutrition, healthy eating and physical activity.
