MISSION Inclusive Action for the City is a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) whose mission is to build strong, local economies that uplift low-income urban communities through advocacy and transformative economic development initiatives. We provide capital to underbanked and low-wealth entrepreneurs and business owners. Our microloans range from $500-$35,000 in low-interest business loans. During the life of the loan, entrepreneurs also receive one-on-one business coaching support in all components of business development.

IMPACT 98% of people of color, 80% of immigrant-owned businesses, and 70% of women-owned businesses. Our name indicates that we are "inclusive" however, because of capacity constraints, we have only been able to serve predominantly English and Spanish-speaking clients. Looking ahead, we would like to increase our capacity through strategic key partnerships, and we have identified language accessibility as a key strategy. The partnership with a Pro Bono volunteer will allow us to greatly increase our impact within the community.

VOLUNTEER ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES The right candidate will work closely with the Inclusive Action for the City team to strengthen the capacity of our programs and champion the mission of the organization. The Pro Bono volunteer will oversee translating key documents for the organization. Ultimately, the Pro Bono volunteer will deliver three documents that include a term sheet, an application checklist and a 1-pager flier.
Responsibilities include:
* Language translation of key documents from English to Korean and/or Spanish
* identify potential non-profits or local CBO’s that provide in-language support for additional interpreting services
* Meet weekly with direct contacts to report progress

REQUIREMENTS
* Language competency in Korean and/or Spanish
* Ability to translate key documents (including business terminology) into Korean and/or Spanish
* Produce three (3) documents that include: term sheet, application checklist, and 1-page flier

TIME COMMITMENT
* 2-5 Hours a week for 3-6 months
