Technology Assistant - Computer Classes

The Technology Assistant plays an important role in assisting patrons in library technology classes, and other programs requiring basic to advanced skills with computers and electronic devices. Classes attract patrons of varying abilities. The assistant provides one-on-one help where needed, and keeps the class on track.

• Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
• Volunteer time is generally 6:30 - 8:30 pm.

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS:

• Position is for an adult volunteer.
• Minimum age to volunteer is 18 years.
• Must be fully vaccinated.
• A minimum 6 month commitment.
• Must pass a background check.
• Working knowledge of one or more: Microsoft Suite, Gmail, Outlook, Email, Google, social media, Windows,
• Working knowledge of GIMP, CAMEO, Vector graphics, multimedia and web design a plus.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Become familiar with class content and handouts.
• Assist with equipment setup and takedown.
• Greet patrons.
• Take class attendance.
• Distribute class materials to patrons.
• Engage with patrons who are struggling on an individual basis, attempt to bring them up to speed, and alert the instructor if you need assistance.
• Inform the instructor if the class appears to be falling behind as a group.
• Collect completed evaluations and leftover class materials, and return to instructor.
