Queen Community House's Friendly Visiting Program matches homebound older adults with volunteers in their community, creating intergenerational relationships in Central and Southeast Queens.
The program also aims to reduce isolation and loneliness amongst seniors in our neighborhoods and communities. Friendly visitors must be 18 and over, be open to committing to 6 months of volunteerism, and a background check is required to participate in the program. Volunteers can either call an older adult or do in-person visits upon approval.
We are currently looking for a volunteer to provide 1 hour weekly visits to an older adult in Elmhurst, Queens. The older adult would like to play Chess with the volunteer and have meaningful conversations.
Volunteer must be 18 years or older.
If interested in volunteering, email us at volunteer@qchnyc.org for more information!
