We are currently looking for a volunteers who plays chess and would love to play and visit with an older adult living in Brookline. You would meet at the Brookline Senior Center. These one-on-one matches are critical to addressing the social isolation that has been exacerbated by COVID-19.

Ideally, this commitment will be once a week for 9-12 months and will be in-person. The time is flexible but the volunteer must be 18+.

FriendshipWorks was founded 35 years ago to help reduce social isolation, enhance the quality of life, and preserve the dignity of older adults in Greater Boston. This work is accomplished by recruiting volunteers of all ages, faiths, and backgrounds who provide friendship, advocacy, education, assistance, and emotional support. Volunteers are critical to helping address the serious health risks posed by social isolation in the elder community, including accelerating brain and cardiovascular aging.
