VOLUNTEER ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Monday-Friday: 8:00 am to 12:00 pm
From Monday to Friday, we host our Hot Breakfast service. Volunteers can expect a larger group of fellow volunteers on these days and a chance to fill any one of the roles below:
Hosts - With the help of a staff member, volunteers will help control the flow of our unhoused guests during dining service. They help with sitting guests who wish to dine in with us or provide to-go breakfast meals. However, their main priority will be to hand off our hot breakfast meals at each table.
Cleaning attendant - One volunteer is stationed at the dining room. The volunteer in this role will help keep the dining room organized and clean during our dining service. Some tasks include, wiping down tables, chairs, replacing paper placemats and maintaining the floor clean. This role is the most sought out by all volunteers as it provides a good opportunity for conversation with our guests.
Coffee/Tea/Juice attendants - Volunteers help prepare cups of coffee/tea/juice and provide refills when needed.
Kitchen Helpers - These volunteers will help in the kitchen by prepping the breakfast meals for both the indoor dining guests and our to-go guests.

Description
In April 2022, The Daughters of Charity and Depaul USA launched the Casa Milagrosa day resource center after rehabbing a building in the Westlake District. The day resource center offers guests a hot breakfast, a computer room, access to hygiene services, housing support, food distribution events and case
management.
The goal is to assist people to get their own accommodation and help them towards a
brighter and more dignified future.
The center is open from 7:30am to 12:30pm Monday through Friday serving a hot breakfast starting at 8am.

- 4.5-hour minimum commitment per day.
- Attire: Casual, comfortable attire with closed-toe shoes. Volunteers need to be able to lift boxes above 20 lbs., this will require bending and lifting. ***Volunteer opportunities for court-mandated service hours must be approved***
