Opportunity Title: Health/hygiene Kit Distribution
Opportunity Description: We are looking for volunteers to join us at Unity Baptist Church in Northeast DC to assist us with the distribution of health/hygiene kits to immigrant residents of the district. Through an event sponsored by DC Department of Behavioral Health, we are participating in a distribution of health and wellness items including masks, hand sanitizer, self-COVID tests, vitamin c packages, and COVID information pamphlets at the church's 3rd Annual Community Day. We are expecting to distribute anywhere from 200 - 400 health/hygiene kits and would greatly appreciate your joining us to assist on this day!
Department/Individuals Assisting Ayuda’s Social Services Team
Responsible to: Our Volunteer Coordinator, Connor Paul, as well as Case Managers Diana Fitz and Monica Maldonado.
# of Volunteers Requesting: We are looking for 3 - 5 volunteers to join and assist us with our distribution on this day
Responsibilities:
- Unloading in-kind donation items and setting up equipment like tables for distribution
- Packaging of health products into our hygiene kits for distribution
- Distributing hygiene kits to attending beneficiaries
- Cleaning up area post-distribution as well as loading up leftover in-kind items and equipment
Opportunity Requirements:
- Required:
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong cross-cultural communication abilities
- Being a team player
- Positivity and enthusiasm for our work
- Vaccinated for COVID-19 (full doses + booster)
- Preferred:
- Fluency in English and Spanish (or other languages such as Chinese, Amharic, French, or Vietnamese)
COVID-19 Policies:
- At Ayuda, we believe it is critical that we follow the best public health practices and adhere to COVID-19 policies that ensure the safety of our staff, interns, beneficiaries, and volunteers. The following will be required of all Ayuda volunteers and is non-negotiable:
- Proof of vaccination, which we define as full vaccination plus a booster shot.
- A copy or photo of vaccination records can be sent to our Volunteer Coordinator before your joining us
- Wearing masks unless eating or drinking
- Proof of vaccination, which we define as full vaccination plus a booster shot.
Commitment:
- This opportunity is a one-time occurrence on Saturday, August 20th from 9:30 AM - 2:00 PM
- Volunteers can meet us directly at Unity Baptist Church (2706 Bladensburg Road, Washington, DC 20018)
- Volunteers will be asked to join for a minimum of 2.5 hours from 9:30 AM - 12 PM but would preferably be able to join for the whole 4.5 hours of the event.
Technology Needed: No technology is needed to assist with this opportunity
