Oasis is a national non-profit organization. Located in Bethesda, MD, the Washington Metropolitan Oasis center is a thriving place where adults over 50 come for lifelong learning and productive aging classes.

Washington Metro Oasis communicates with our participants through a weekly e-newsletter. We are looking for a volunteer with strong writing skills to write features for the newsletter. Articles should be brief (200-400 words) and topics would include:

  • A monthly "Featured Instructor" segment highlighting our talented speakers and advertising their upcoming classes. The instructors each month will be identified by Oasis staff and the volunteer would be expected to contact the instructor, do a short interview (can be done via phone or email), and write a brief feature article about that instructor.
  • Articles highlighting upcoming classes with thematic content, for example, a lecture and walking tour that are connected.
  • Articles centered on a monthly theme, for example, Heart Health Month or Diabetes Awareness Month.

We will provide assignments at least a month in advance of our deadlines and the interviews and writing can be done on your own time.

Featured articles would also be posted to the Oasis blog and Facebook page.
