Help NAMI reach out and connect with 1.5 million fair-goers! Volunteers staff the NAMI Minnesota booth in the education building; engaging the public with our wheel of trivia, distributing literature and NAMI publications, and providing basic information on NAMI, our programs, and the mental health system. Individual volunteers and couples are welcome, but we cannot accommodate more than 2 volunteers per shift due to space constraints. A staff member is also on hand to support the volunteers as needed. Volunteers will receive a free admission ticket to the fair on the day(s) they volunteer; and must commit to a minimum of a 4-hour shift. Standard daily shifts run from 9 AM-1 PM, 1-5 PM, and 5-9 PM. Volunteers are asked to sign-up for 1-2 shifts at most with this link: https://signup.com/go/gevaGYh
If you'd like to do more, please add yourself to the wait-list. Priority shift preferences will be given based on overtime coverage and past participation. Please make sure to use your CELL PHONE # to sign-up!
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.
About NAMI Minnesota
1919 University Ave West, Suite 400, St. Paul, MN 55104, US
NAMI Minnesota's mission is to champion justice, dignity, and respect for all people affected by mental illness. Through education, support, and advocacy we strive to eliminate the pervasive stigma of mental illness, effect positive changes in the mental health system, and increase the public and professional understanding of mental illness.
NAMI Minnesota is a statewide grassroots organization dedicated to improving the lives of people living with mental illnesses and their families through educational programming, peer-led support, community outreach, and legislative advocacy.
All our programming is based on a peer-to-peer model, and we're always looking for individuals who have participated in our programs to join us as support group facilitators or help teach our curriculum. We are also regularly recruiting volunteers for our outreach and advocacy efforts, special events, and to help with various facets of non-profit administration.
Most NAMI program volunteers are trained and placed through the state office, and supported by their local affiliates, to fulfill their placements within their local communities.
NAMI also offers various unpaid internships in the fields of non-profit management and public policy.
NAMI does not offer direct services.
